my first collaboration experience

I have got a lot of questions about my first ever collaboration so I thought I will create my first ever blog post about this!

At the time that I was contacted, I had less than 10k TikTok followers, less than 1,500 Instagram followers and less than 10K YouTube subscribers too. So it felt really nice to have been approached by such a big gaming company!

After realising the opportunity I quickly got my thinking cap on and started jotting down ideas, creating space on my phone (the never ending 'storage space almost full' notifications) and finalising things with them.

I would say that the overall process was really good. The communication from the social media management company was amazing! They kept me informed through out the campaign and provided me with a lot of information. As a content creator who, at that time, was still trying to grow my audience and figure out my style - it really helped me narrow down the type of content I love to create.

I loved capturing the gameplay and focusing on what the client wanted. Once I had finalised my scene ideas it was sent off for review. The first idea that I had didn't sit quite right with the client - this was absolutely fine with me - I realised they wanted my usual style of content, so I had given them a new brief which came out perfect in the end. So this meant I didn't have to film until the idea was final. They also didn't need pictures with the brief but in terms of helping the client 'see' my vision I did include some! It's important to realise that delivering what the client wants is what most collaborations will entail. So having an open mind and not being offended easily will help you during the process.

As this was a paid collaboration it was run as an ad by the company. This means that you don't need to worry about if the video will get views. I won't be discussing any private or confidential details about the campaign other than that it was to promote MySims: Cozy Bundle for the PlayStation 5 - with a focus on PlayStation 5 Portal.

I managed to fit all my filming into one day and the deadlines were also quite short - I had got given a week notice to get my draft video ready. It was then reviewed by the client who let the social media company know of any edits or things they didn't/did like!

This was my first ever paid collaboration and I felt as though it was a great learning step for me to understand the world of collaborations, what companies want to see and to really start taking my content journey seriously.

So, if you've been approached by a legitimate company regarding a collaboration - be brave, try something new and make sure you stay true to your own unique style. Why? Because this is why they have contacted you in the first place!

if you read to the end thank you so much and I will try to make more blog posts for you 🙂
